One of the most important aspects of climbing poles: comfort. It’s hard work climbing all day, especially in harsh weather; the last thing you want is to feel pain and struggle from the climbing belt you use. Going from a climbing belt that pinches your hips, doesn’t allow mobility, and doesn’t feel comfortable are all problems that can be solved with a proper belt.
Below are 6 of the most comfortable lineman belts available on the market in 2022. In recent years us lineman have really been spoiled with options of climbing belts that are designed specifically for comfort while climbing.
Best Overall: Buckingham Heritage 2019
The Heritage belt has all kinds of great qualities such as design, quality materials, back support, a sexy distressed vintage look, and comfort. It’s one of the most trusted belts on the market and used by a ton of lineman, for good reason.
The leather is so soft. When you put this belt on you can tell they built it with comfort in mind. It just seems to feel amazing because of the quality of materials. One of the great aspects about this climbing belt is the back support. The Heritage has a fully padded, 7″ high design that gives you the most ideal back support without sacrificing elsewhere. The back support is crazy amazing, especially if you are one that struggles with back issues.
Weighing 7 pounds with 4 dee rings, 2 full floating primary and 2 upper secondary. If you’re looking for a new belt that really has it all the Buckingham Heritage 2019 climbing belt is hands down one of the best options you can get, especially for comfort.
Best Budget: Buckingham Short Back Mobility
This belt is everything you need to comfortably get the job done. It doesn’t look fancy, but the 7″ fully padded back support is definitely a nice touch. It’s one of the most affordable options on the list and it doesn’t sacrifice quality or comfort at that price.
I used this belt a bit when working in Oklahoma and I was impressed. The padding felt nice on the back, my hips never hurt, and the freedom of movement you get with this belt is top tier. Even climbing all day, in 100 degree weather, comfort was never an issue.
The Short Back Mobility gives you 4 stacked dee rings, is made from high quality leather, steel and nylon, and weighs the typical 7 pounds. It’s a great option for any lineman, anytime.
Best Runner Up: Bucklight LinePro
The Bucklight LinePro was built with lineman comfort as the north star. The bottom half of the belt is one of the most comfortable feelings you can get when you are in your working position on a pole. The bottom half is independent from the top and fits uniquely compared to other traditional lineman climbing belts.
Another interesting design this belt includes is the dee ring setup- 2 dee rings on top and 2 on bottom. However, they are all large, giving you flexibility on your primary and secondary fall restraints. The weight is 7 pounds, much like many of the other belts on this list.
The Bucklight LinePro gives you that broke in feeling right away, is one of the most comfortable belts available on the market, and has dee rings to fit your style. Give it a go and I’m sure you’ll be happy with your choice.
Best Under $500: 2019 Buckingham Stack D
This belt gives you superior movement while in your working position- 4″ of lateral side to side movement. This type of design allows you to get work done on both sides of the pole without having to reposition your gaffs. The 2019M comes with a 7+” back support that is made of Dri-Lex synthetic padding, giving you all kinds of comfort.

The stacked dee rings are traditional, 2 smaller secondary rings above and the 2 primary below. For a belt that is less than $500 you still get quality materials- leather and nylon. If you prefer to only have a guy strap to help with mobility then this belt is a great option for you and honestly, who doesn’t prefer a gut strap only belt?
One thing about the 2019M belt that surprised me is the weight- coming in at 6.15 pounds. This is the most lightweight climbing belt on the list.
Best Lightweight: Sala Seat Belt

Probably the most unique design on the list and definitely built with comfort in mind. Lineman love the extra ass support, especially for the poles that take awhile to finish. It’s impressive that they built this awesome lineman seat, but still got the belt to weigh a lowly 6.2 pounds! It’s hard not to love a belt that literally has a built in seat.
If you’ve never seen this belt check it out, it’s different than what we might expect from traditional lineman climbing belts. But that difference is exactly what makes it top tier when it comes to comfortable lineman belts. So if you’re looking for a belt that is unique, lightweight, and built for comfort, check out the Sala Seat-Belt.
Best Honorable Mention: Bashlin Floridian 88′
Old faithful makes the list. Seems like tons of the old timers know about this belt and many recommend it. And honestly I love the simplicity of it. There’s nothing about it that is so unique that it stands out like the before mentioned Sala Seat Belt or LinePro, but it does so many things right that many gravitate towards it.
Here’s a few reasons why this belt is a great option. First off, I’m a sucker for light colored leather belts. Second it takes up less space in the truck bins. And of course the comfort- a padded back support and the reassurance that this belt has been battle tested for quite some time.
However there is one major downfall for this belt- it only has 2 dee rings. So no convenient secondary dee rings. But I’ve climbed for years with a Miller belt is similar to this belt, only 2 dee rings. It’s a bit more work, but it’s totally doable. I do prefer the stacked dee rings for my secondary, but many lineman still do prefer a style like this and that is just fine.
Snag this Bashlin 88′ if you prefer 2 dee rings, love the look of light leather, or you’re just sick of seeing all the Buckingham on the list 😂
Final Words
Which of these 6 most comfortable lineman belts did you like most? Was it the lightweight Sala that also has a great design for comfort? Or do you enjoy the more traditional and fully padded Heritage? No matter what choice you make all of the belts on this list are some of the best options on the market today.
