Buzzlineman is reader supported. If you purchase after clicking the affiliate links, I’ll earn some money- maybe even enough to buy me a new pair of work gloves. You do not pay a higher price.

Every day of the week lineman put on those boots and climb into their buckets, boom up and work the utility poles. Working in the rain, heat, snow, it doesn’t matter. One annoying aspect of the job is a bucket filled with water or snow. If you are dealing with this issue read on to find 6 of our favorite bucket truck bucket covers for aerial lineman. Some of the options include hard tops, foam filled covers, and some bucket covers that are easier on that wallet.

Woot woot, bucket cover success!

It’s best to measure your bucket before deciding on any cover to verify it will actually fit. Most of the companies you order from will let you know the measurements they offer. Make sure you take the time to measure so you’re getting exactly what you want.

Best One Man Bucket Cover

The one man bucket cover has some solid options to choose from, but overall I like these specific hard top and foam filled options.

Best Overall: Folding Hard Top with Strap

When I first saw this cover I was surprised how simple it really was. Up to that point I hadn’t come across any fancy folding bucket truck bucket covers. The folding slats work great for providing solid support AND they fold so they don’t take up much space throughout the work day. No more messing with trying to find somewhere for your bucket cover to go that is out of the way.

Slip it over one side, get the other side on, and then pull the strap tight. If you are looking for something built with quality in mind and takes up minimal space this folding hard top from PPC is one of the best options on the market. Check out the 16 second video below to get a good look at it.

Best Runner Up: Vinyl Foam Backed Cover

Ol’ trusty. It’s a solid bucket cover option and you know what you’re going to get. The foam filled cover provides support from the rain water build up and it doubles as a pillow if your wife kicks you out for the night.

One of the best things about this bucket cover is the fact that you don’t have to remove your tool apron or saw scabbard when you put the cover on. It also fits multiple sizes of one man buckets and of course it comes with a yellow lanyard & snap. Snag up this vinyl foam backed bucket cover if you want something solid that is going to get the job done and give you some flexibility.

Best Bucket Truck Control Cover

If you want to make sure your bucket truck controls don’t get wet, one of these options below should work just fine for you. However, I have to mention I have used a few bucket trucks that never cover the controls. They get rained and snowed on and they haven’t had any issues. I’m not saying they won’t have issues in the future, I’m just sharing my personal experience.

But it’s always a good idea to do the right thing 😉 Check out these 2 options below and see if either will work for you.

Best Overall: Versalift Black Vinyl

It measures 24″ x 30″ and does exactly what it’s intended to do- protect the bucket and controls. No foam, no hardshell, just plain vinyl material which works just fine. This control cover is coming from Veralift, but they state the cover will work on any bucket that measure 24×30.

Built for lineman by lineman. Just joking, but Versalift is a reputable brand and I’ve used their bucket covers multiple times and they hold up well. This Versalift Black Vinyl bucket cover is a great option if you’re trying to keep your controls dry and protected.

Best Budget: Orange Bucket Cover

I haven’t personally seen this bucket cover, but many say it works just as intended. One of the most talked about qualities of this orange bucket cover is how far it can stretch. With that comes the ability to be used on multiple bucket truck controls. Many lineman use it on their Altec buckets and say it fits them perfectly. One guy said he has 6 different bucket trucks and this bucket cover fits all of them.

One other aspect to note is this orange bucket cover does not come with sag support. No foam, no hard top slats or anything like that. The orange bucket cover is easy to spot, one of the most affordable options on the list, and comes with a lanyard and snap. The most important factor- it does a good job at keeping out rain and other weather issues.

Best Bucket Cover on Amazon

Amazon is great- fast service, easy to purchase from and a website you can trust. We just talked about the orange bucket cover it is also would fit in this Amazon category, but I thought I would throw in one more Amazon cover. Made in the USA.

PPC Heavy Duty Bucket Cover

It has a traditional bucket cover look- black and vinyl. However, it has a support pocket that allows you to slide in a small piece of wood, 1×4, or so. Whatever you can find that will fit in that support pocket to provide some sturdiness on top. Like most of the others on the list it too comes with a lanyard and snap. It measures lip to lip about 28 x 28 inches.

Honorable Mention Bucket Cover Recommendation

I figured one more option wouldn’t hurt and people love using Buckingham products, so I came across one more lineman bucket cover that will keep you and your stuff dry.

Buckingham Vinyl Soft Top Bucket Cover

This bucket cover has 2 different color options- green and black. The green is the traditional Buckingham green with black lettering in the middle. I prefer the more traditional black cover with the green lettering in the middle. I think it blends in well, but still looks slick with some color in the middle. This cover fits a 29 inch one man bucket and comes with a grommet and is made of durable vinyl coated nylon. Cost about $100.

If you want the upgraded option, it will run you an additional $100 and you’ll get a fiberglass insert. Get the Buckingham Vinyl Soft Top Bucket Cover here, and the upgraded Buckingham fiberglass insert here.

Final Words on Bucket Truck Bucket Covers

Don’t mess around with water in your bucket. I know the pain of getting to work with inches of water sitting in the bottom of your bucket. Graduate from crawling around on your bucket to run the hand controls so you can tip your bucket upside down to drain it. It’s a big hassle and all it takes is investing in one of these bucket truck bucket covers. Just don’t forget you have to put it on the bucket before you head home 😉
